Rittners Floral School Library Containers Resources....

We tell our students, that for a floral designer, containers are like friends. Each has its own strengths, weaknesses, strangeness, and its own idiosyncracies. Some of which we may find more appealing than others....In varying circumstances.

Yet the container or base IS the starting point for many of the floral designs that we create. It defines the kind of designing we are doing, whether it is created for a particular holiday or not. There may be symbolic appeal in the base because of its shape, or a particular meaningful color or color grouping.

The form or shape of the container may make it more appropriate for certain styles or kinds of flower arrangements. And the form or shape may help define the arrangement as more contemporary, traditional, whimsical or novelty....

As our school is multigenerational, we have through the years accumulated a vast library of hundreds of containers and bases. We use these containers as demonstration pieces for teaching. We also use them for the various photographs that students enjoy in our epublications, online albums and for in-class presentations.

These resources definitely enhance our teaching and add a special dimension to our floral school.
